TSS is a special alloy of tungsten, nickel and iron. Whereas lead has a density of 11.34 g/cc, TSS has a density of 18.1 g/cc. What this means is simple: A #9 TSS pellet weighs approximately the same as a #4 lead pellet, so resists crosswinds just about as effectively, hits a turkey just about as hard, and penetrates it just about as deeply. But since you’re firing 498 #9 TSS pellets instead of just 186 #4 lead shot pellets, you’re putting a whole lot more holes through your bird’s head and neck.
