Lever action with style that sets it apart from the rest, but not enough shine to risk spooking game? Easy- our steel-framed Wildlife editions in two of America’s longest-lived hunting calibers, the same .30-30 and .45-70 that our brass Wildlife rifles are chambered for. Like their brass cousins, these steel-framed models acknowledge a long history of hunting, and the lever action’s well-earned place in it for over 150 years. More subdued, with blued steel frames and furniture, they’re also lighter in weight for long days on foot through dense brush and high mountain terrain. Steel weighs less than our hardened brass material, and the round barrels here also reduce weight for a trimmer hunting package that loses nothing in performance in the field. For added utility, we’ve also added our popular side loading gate and removable tube magazine configuration. The H009GWL in .30-30 sets off its straight-wristed walnut stock with checkering fore and aft, and replaces the brass buttplate with a black rubber recoil pad. On top, the frame is drilled & tapped for scope mounts, and the 20” barrel is fitted with a semi-buckhorn rear sight and brass bead front blade. Sling swivel studs and our centerfire in-hammer transfer bar make for convenient and safe carry with the hammer down on a loaded chamber, ready for cocking on a fast shot if you need one, with five rounds standing by in the magazine. The steel Wildlife .30-30 carries over the same engraving patterns of the brass version, with American vine, scroll, and braided borders surrounding a circular buck’s head portrait in 24K gold relief on the right side behind the ejection port, and an oval-framed leaping buck on the left. Other sections are also accented in gold. The H010GWL in .45-70 is a trim powerhouse with its 18.43” barrel under semi-buckhorn rear and tall brass bead front sights. A checkered pistol grip walnut stock, sling swivel studs, and ventilated black rubber recoil pad fill out the package. Again sharing the .45-70 brass Wildlife Edition’s engraving pattern, a 24K gold relief profile of a bear adorns the left side of the blued frame inside gold-accented scroll, line, and braided borders, with a gold relief image of a moose head on the right side. Built to bring home the bacon (or whatever your hunt takes you after), these special steel-framed Wildlife models are a cut above, and a point of pride.
