The Henry .30-30 is a favorite fast handling Lever-Action Rifle for whitetail deer hunting, though it has enough power for most big game hunting in North America. The Henry is constructed with a premium steel receiver with a solid top and side ejection; the receiver is drilled and tapped for a scope mount. There is no loading port on the side of the receiver as ammunition is loaded directly into the tubular magazine from the top. A semi-buckthorn rear sight, mounted on the rear, atop of the receiver, provides a longer sight radius over a barrel-mounted rear sight for enhanced accuracy. The rugged, front post sight is quick to acquire with the ghost ring rear sight, making the rifle extremely effective for hunting, as well as self-defense. The trigger pull is crisp and clean, allowing for fine accuracy. Henry utilizes an internal transfer bar safety that prevents hammer contact with the firing pin unless the trigger is pulled. The rifle cannot fire from being dropped onto the hammer, nor will it accidently fire if the shooter's thumb slips from the hammer while cocking. (There is no manual cross-bolt safety or traditional half-cock notch for a safety.) The Henry 30-30 is an attractive Lever-Action Rifle, with a checkered American walnut stock, and steel-capped forend with a sling swivel stud. The barrel and receiver are matte blue. A rubber butt-pad helps absorb recoil, and provides a non-slip weld on the shooter's shoulder. The lines of the Henry rifle are traditionally American, as well as its design and the cartridge it fires.
